About Us

Since 2017, the Corning Street Tree Project has been driven by a simple belief: our neighborhoods are at their best when they are shaded, green, and vibrant. What started as a small group of neighbors concerned about our local tree canopy has grown into a community-wide movement.
To date, we have successfully planted 90+ trees across Corning, NY. You’ve likely seen our work while walking down your street - young oaks, serviceberries, and redbuds growing strong thanks to the dedicated volunteers who planted them and the neighbors who water them.

We are not a government agency; we are a grassroots organization of your friends and neighbors. Every tree is planned, sited, and planted by local volunteers. This means that every dollar donated to the project goes directly into the ground - funding high-quality saplings and the essential watering bags that help them survive their first few years.

Healthy Environment

Cooler Streets

Tree-lined streets increase property values and foster a sense of well-being for everyone.
Natural shade significantly lowers neighborhood temperatures in the summer and leads to less utility costs.
Our native trees manage stormwater, clean the air we breathe, and provide homes for wildlife.

Partnerships

We partner with other local organizations who share our passion for trees and the Corning community.

Corning Southside Neighborhood Association

The Southside Neighborhood Association (SNA) and the Corning Street Tree Project have joined forces. By integrating the SNA’s long-standing tradition of Southside tree planting with our broader project goals, we are maximizing our reach and resources. Together, we are ensuring that Corning’s historic canopy is not just preserved, but expanded for generations to come.
